The Challenge

The Challenge

Afghanistan is a place of rugged beauty. It is a place of extreme hardship and filled with people of great strength. Some of these fiercely strong individuals are the War Widows of Afghanistan. Due to over 35 years of conflict many women are left widowed and destitute, making these women and their children vulnerable to begging or prostitution to care for their families.

On average these women are 35 years old and have more than four children to support.

Our Partner

A Voice for the Voiceless has a track record of a number of successfully completed projects. All of these projects are in cooperation with our local partners on the ground that we meet and know personally, observed their work and character. We believe that a ministry is more effective and has a stronger long term impact, if passionate locals, who know and understand their own people, are taking ownership and lead out the projects. Those are the people we want to see empowered, in what God has already laid on their hearts.

One of those partners is a ministry in Kabul called Homes of Future Hope for Afghanistan (FHFA). They are working toward the Empowerment of widows, their children, and the extreme poor. FHFA helps them to take steps toward self-sufficiency through small business and vocational training. They are also actively involved in equipping girls and boys from vulnerable families for the future through education.

With the help of our local partner organization, Future Hope for Afghanistan (FHFA) Zebah received 3 egg laying chickens that brought protein into her diet and small source of income. She saves precious food scraps to feed them and now has them trained to come when she whistles. She proudly showed us eggs she got that day.

This is the difference that a few chickens can make. Zebah isn’t just earning income for her family anymore, she’s building a better future. Chickens have given her and her children the chance to dream and the means to make these dreams a reality.

One Chicken costs $12

Weather-proof house that holds 40 chickens costs $120

Every donation you make impacts the lives of families effected by war and in desperate need.
