The challenge

The challenge

Northern Nigeria has repeatedly been in the news as a result of severe persecution of Christians at the hands of Boko Haram. Christian villages were systematically attacked and burned down. Students have been kidnapped out of schools. Believers have been killed, maimed, and terrorized . . . even in their places of worship!

Samuel was born into a Muslim family line that claims to be direct descendants of Muhammad. However his father was a believer and Samuel also accepted Christ at a young age. By the age of 9 he told his mother: “One day I want to become a missionary and I want to share the gospel in the villages.” He has been doing this since he was 14 years of age and the extremists are searching for him and want to kill him. He is married and has three children and considers it a privilege to be persecuted for the sake of Jesus. Over the last 10 years Samuel has been training up evangelists and has already sent 350 of them into areas where persecution and martyrdom have a high prevalence.

A Voice for the Voiceless is presently working on a project to encourage and help persecuted Christians, like Samuel, through rebuilding the roofs of burned down church buildings. In some villages no more congregations can be found, but we are helping the remaining believers within this region. We have learned that restoring their place of worship and prayer, rekindles an immense hope in them. Extremists try to wipe out Christianity through violence and fear. Help us to stand with our brothers and sisters, to strengthen their witness and faith, as they walk through severe pain and suffering.

The project has started with the church members rebuilding the walls from materials that can be accessed locally. The roofs however are more expensive and the materials difficult to access.

Would you partner with us helping to finish the rebuilding of 100 churches in this part of the world that have been bombed out by the extremists.

The current estimate for one roof is USD $4800.

Will you stand with these congregations to see their building restored?
